Our team works closely with a family-owned builder-partner, Downing Construction, Inc. on many projects to offer an integrated design-build delivery method. We currently share a collaborative office space in Leominster, MA.

About this Position

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Architectural Project Manager/Senior Designer. This role will be responsible for managing multiple custom residential and light commercial projects through all phases of design for both design-bid-build and design-build delivery methods. This position would be expected to review project proposals, deliver and revise scopes per project proposals/client requests, meet design schedules, and prepare strategic plans for project success. Future growth in this role may include being responsible for preparing contracts, supervising design team, and managing assignments, depending on project size and scope. Software to be used in this role include Asana, Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Suite, among others. This is an office position – remote work requests will not be considered at this time. Candidates will only be considered if they have the ability to travel to the office for work and to job sites throughout New England as required. 

Skills and qualifications for consideration:

  • Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field is preferred.
  • Professional registration and progress toward licensure is preferred but not required.
  • Requirement for number of years of professional experience may vary for each candidate depending on rigor of each previous work experience.
  • Architectural Project Manager/Senior Designer is motivated to flexibly support the team at all levels, including fulfilling administrative tasks, continuing education, and other opportunities that promote growth of the business and team long-term.
  • Comfortable coordinating and communicating project information with consultants, vendors, builders, and clients. Interviewees should be prepared to demonstrate their knowledge and level of experience preparing construction documents, and coordinating work with structural engineers and other consultants.
  • Proficiency in building envelope detailing and strong understanding of building systems and local building codes. Interviewees should be prepared to demonstrate their knowledge and level of experience preparing construction documents, and detailing building envelope design.
  • Understands appropriate level of detail for each design phase and develop strong design solutions through all phases of a project.
  • Able to clearly explain and graphically represent design ideas using multiple graphic tools and software.
  • Able to research products and code specifications and incorporate that information into technical documentation.
  • Incorporates integrated sustainable design solutions into projects.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks, collaborate on both small and large teams and work well under deadlines.
  • High proficiency with Revit in a professional setting.
  • Highly organized (file organization, saves correspondence, meeting documentation, etc).
  • Experience in kitchen and bath design is a plus.
  • Experience in cabinetry and millwork design and detailing is a plus.
  • Experience in historic preservation is a plus.
