Architectural Tour of the Prior Performing Arts Center

Join AIA Central Massachusetts, The Worcester County chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute, and Diller Scofidio + Renfro, who will be leading a tour through the new Prior Performing Arts Center at the College of the Holy Cross.

The program will give participants a firsthand look at emerging trends in the design of Performing Arts Center with a focus on performer and visitor safety and unique social interactions. An hour-long presentation will additionally cover the roles and responsibilities of the Designer, Architect of Record, and General Contractor and how to ensure safety of campus occupants during construction,  followed by the facility tour.

WHERE: This in-person event will be held on the campus of College of the Holy Cross (see map below)

COSTThis event will be offered free of charge 

 After participating in this program, attendees will be able to:  

  • Recognize emerging trends in the design of Performing Arts Centers and how to ensure performers and visitors safety. 
  • Identify opportunities to elevate human experience through spatial configurations and design elements that encourage unique social interactions. 
  • Better understand the roles and responsibilities of the Designer, Architect of Record, and General Contractor. 
  • Plan for the logistical challenges of translating the design intent into an executable, code compliant set of construction documents that ensures the safety of students, faculty, and other occupants during construction on an active college campus.
