Join AIA Central Massachusetts (AIACM) for an opportunity to meet with students from the new Fitchburg State College chapter of the American Institute of Architectural Students (AIAS) and later for a presentation by Andre Leroux on creating sustainable communities in Massachusetts. The evening includes:

5:00 – 6:00 pm            AIACM meeting with AIAS Fitchburg State students at the Conlon Industrial Technology Building

6:00 – 7:00 pm            Dinner (fee) and AIACM board meeting at the Holmes Dining Commons

7:00 pm                       Presentation on “The dirty work of sustainable communities in Massachusetts” by Andre Leroux, executive director of the MA Smart Growth Alliance (MSGA)

Leroux is the executive director of the Massachusetts Smart Growth Alliance (MSGA), a coalition promoting healthy and diverse communities, protecting critical environmental resources and working landscapes, advocating for housing and transportation choices, and supporting equitable community development and urban reinvestment. Prior to working at MSGA, he was the director of planning and policy at the Lawrence Community works and co-authored the PolicyLink report Voices from Forgotten Cities: Innovative Revitalization Coalitions in America’s Older Small Cities.

The program is free and open to everyone. Dinner is $15 ($10 for AIA members).

1.0 HSW Learning Unit is provided for this workshop.
