PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Panel will present the challenges andsolutions developed to ensure that this new corporateheadquarters and distribution facility earned a LEED Platinumrating as mandated by the owner. At 86 points, this is the highestrated LEED NCV2009 project in Massachusetts and the highestrated private project over 100,000 sf in the country. To achievethis demanding goal the owner, design team, and constructionteam worked very closely from day 1 to ensure that all teammembers were focused on the Platinum Goal-failure was never anoption as clearly outlined by the owner! Topics will include: - SitePlanning Sustainable strategies and solutions - MEP systemsdesign approaches and solutions - Building Envelope designapproaches and solutions - Renewable energy strategiesimplemented - Sustainable Building products and finish systemsselected and why - Construction components including regional,recycled content and waste management - USGBC application,review and point clarification process - Cost and schedule impactof sustainable design decisions.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Apply systematic sustainably–minded thinking to designing projects, using the highest rated LEED NC Platinum project in MA as an example
2. Identify what building components make high-end sustainable performance criteria in all 7 categories of the LEED Rating categories
3. Implement the no cost/low cost sustainable design strategies important to every project.
4. Engage in the LEED project certification process including submission, reviews, and conference calls with LEED review teams.
